Maniaphobia Script

INT. STAIRWAY
Michael, a clean cut business man running away from someone. you never see who he's
running from. he runs up stairs where he comes to a security guard .
MICHAEL
He's after me, don't let him find me
Security guard don't say anything, just points to a door. Michael ducks into a room and sits in a chair and
grabs his head with both hands like he's in pain.
Coming around the hallway corner is Michael dressed in ripped clothes and messed up hair. He comes to
the same security guard.
MICHAEL
Have you seen me, can you tell me which way i went?
The security guard just looks at him. Michael grabs his head and drops to his knees.
MICHAEL
Oh my god, I'm losing my sanity.
SECURITY GUARD
You've already lost your sanity.
camera fades back as Michael is on the ground screaming and fades out.
INT. HOTEL ROOM
Fade in, Brian stands in same room that Michael ducked into in the last scene.
Dale is wearing a pig mask and tied up on the bed
DALE
"Did the rabbit die? Did the rabbit die? Did the rabbit die?"
Brian walks over and stuffs an apple in the Dale's mouth.
BRIAN
You ought to be more concerned about how I'm going to fry you like bacon !
Now shut your pork hole.
Brian picks up a sharp knife and walks into the bathroom / camera doesn't follow all you hear is SCREAMS!
Dale splits out the apple and starts yelling
DALE
Help! Help! Help!
Brian runs back in and grabs Dale by the throat to make him stop screaming
Brian chewing on something / blood around his mouth
BRIAN
"you know, cannibalism is very under rated . have you ever had a fresh liver sandwich ?
Brian smiles to show his bloody teeth
BRIAN
"I like mine on pumpernickel bread."
Brian motions his hand to his ear
BRIAN
What's that? I think i hear your stomach growling. let me get back to the bathroom and
slice you off a nice cut of meat. Do you want lettuce and tomatoes with your girlfriend's
guts? ( laughter )
INT. BATHROOM
Michele, wearing rabbit mask, lays covered in blood in the bath tub
Brian enters the bathroom.
all over the bathroom counter top - knives , tomato , lettuce, carrots, bread ,etc.
MICHELE
Let me go
BRIAN
Do you think you're above all this?
You should be god damn honored !
You're a friggin' delicacy !
Brian turns the tub water on and watches Michele squirm as the tub fills with hot water .
The water quickly turns red with blood
BRIAN
I'm going to make some rabbit stew
Brian starts cutting up some vegetables and tossing them in the tub
BRIAN
Stop lollygagging around and die already.
Brian exits the bathroom.
INT. HOTEL ROOM
DALE
Listen, I'm sure you're a reasonable man.
Everyone has a price. What's your price?
What the hell is your price to let me go.
I won't tell. I won' t even tell my priest!
BRIAN
If I let me go . I want you to tell your priest.
Tell them all. Tell everyone what you've heard
and what you've seen. I've giving you an education
in horror and I expect you to teach this gift that you've
been given. If not, i will make your you suffer well after
your body is dead.
DALE
You sick fuck. but whatever. whatever fucking ever.
just let me out of here.
Brian let's Dale go. Dales goes to the door but is having a hard time openning the door.
He sees Brian coming at his with a knife.
DALE
No, No. Please No !
Brian kills Dale with a slash of the knife.
BRIAN
If you actually thought I was going to let you just walk away,
you've lost your mind, man.
Brian backs up and sits down in a chair
Same chair from beginning that business man sat in and the same thing happens to Brian.
Brian grabs his head in pain and suddenly gets a realization of what has just happened.
He's shocked and he looks at the knife and drops it. He looks down at this bloody hands.
BRIAN
Oh my lord, what have i done ?
Brian walks over to the body of Dale and looks at it in amazement.
Brian walks into the bath room where he discovers the Michele's body in the tub .
He turns away quickly as if he's going to be sick.
Brian looks at himself in the mirror and looking back at him is Michael the business man from the beginning
of our film.
MICHAEL
When mind and body our separated there is constant
struggle for them to find each other throwing
off the balance of space and time. When you lose
your sanity it's often never to be found again.
But what if the opportunity presented itself in the form
of an alternate host in the same space and the same time,
then could it be possible to regain someone else's sanity?
BRIAN
Who am I?
Brian with his back against the shower. The dead Michele rises up and grabs Brian from behind.
Screen goes black.

Nick Redfern talks about KEEP OUT!, Occupy Wallstreet, and more!

Do you think the media will ever be granted access to Area 51 or other
locations in an attempt to show that they are NOT hiding anything?

Answer: No, I don't think that will ever happen, chiefly because it's not to the government's advantage to do so. Governments everywhere only do things when it is to their advantage to do them. Also, what would be the point in giving access? No-one outside of those that work there, or who have to travel there, can access the base anyway. No-one outside of the government, the military, or the intelligence community can go there, so there's no need for the government to comment or reveal anything if we can't access it, and which they could still hide anyway, even if they did allow people on-base. Plus, there's another issue too: If the government said something along the lines of "All we have here are classified aircraft programs and no crashed UFOs," many people would still be very skeptical, or would outright accuse the government of lying. So, this would also make it a pointless act. It's like the Disclosure movement, which I think is - in theory - a worthy idea, but it is just so steeped in childlike naivety, because asking the Government to come clean on UFOs because "the people" want it, is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard, or it's certainly near the top of the list of ridiculous things I have heard. No government is ever going to spill the beans on its truly guarded UFO-connected secrets because a bunch of Ufologists demand they do. That's just total, total crap to even imagine it would, or will, happen. And UFO Disclosure is just like asking the Government to come clean on Area 51, namely that if Disclosure isn't what Ufology is expecting to hear, they will say it's not real Disclosure after all. Same for what's going on at Area 51 - if the government doesn't admit to holding UFOs there, or outright denies it, it will be viewed as a lie. So, it won't happen because unless it meets people's preconceived expectations, the revelation will be ignored or denied.

Horrornews.net Interview w/ Evan Bass ( The Eve )

How did doing homage posters for your movie, “The Eve” come to be?
The homage posters grew out of the style and nods we make in “The Eve” towards past, classic films. “The Eve” is very much a psychological thriller at times, in a very Hitchcockian build, and we wanted to include that nod in our poster campaign. We also filmed on location in Martha’s Vineyard and had the pleasure of filming, at one point, in the same harbor and on the same dock that “Jaws” filmed. Additionally, throughout the film there are other subtle nods to other classic films in the genre, and we thought that it would be a lot of fun to include that in the image of the film before it is released, and to give our audience something different to look at.

Interview : Martin Guigul (director of Beneath the Darkness)

Did you have a pitfalls or obstacles during the filming of Beneath the
Darkness? If so, how did you work through them?

It was a very tight schedule and half was night shoots. But I like to move fast anyway which works to my advantage in terms of getting authentic performances. I try to work with the same DP and A.D. alot which keeps the set moving and positive. The crew in Texas was awesome. The toughest were the cold nights in the cemetary, sometimes 24, 25, 28 degress farenheit. We actually got shot at one night by a bunch of late night party boys riding in a pick up. They were trying to shoot out our lights. Cops came, wild stuff. Things like that add to the tone when filming, so again, worked to our advantage on screen, lol.

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY

THE HOBBIT:
AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY

From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson comes “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” the first of two films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien. The second film will be “The Hobbit: There and Back Again.”
Both films are set in Middle-earth 60 years before “The Lord of the Rings,” which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar®-winning “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.”
The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.
Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever…Gollum.
Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, the character he played in “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, and Martin Freeman in the central role of Bilbo Baggins. Also reprising their roles from “The Lord of the Rings” movies are: Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Elijah Wood as Frodo; Orlando Bloom as Legolas; and Andy Serkis as Gollum. The ensemble cast also includes (in alphabetical order) Richard Armitage, John Bell, Jed
Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Luke Evans, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Barry Humphries, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Evangeline Lilly, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, Mike Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O’Gorman, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, Jeffrey Thomas, and Aidan Turner.
The screenplays for both “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” and “The Hobbit: There and Back Again” are by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson. Jackson is also producing the films, together with Fran Walsh and Carolynne Cunningham. The executive producers are Alan Horn, Ken Kamins, Toby Emmerich and Zane Weiner, with Boyens serving as co-producer.
Under Jackson’s direction, both movies are being shot consecutively in digital 3D using the latest camera and stereo technology. Filming is taking place at Stone Street Studios, Wellington, and on location around New Zealand.
Among the creative behind-the-scenes team returning to Jackson’s crew are director of photography Andrew Lesnie, production designer Dan Hennah, conceptual designers Alan Lee and John Howe, composer Howard Shore and make-up and hair designer Peter King. The costumes are designed by Ann Maskrey and Richard Taylor. The score is being composed by Howard Shore.
Taylor is also overseeing the design and production of weaponry, armour and prosthetics which are once again being made by the award winning Weta Workshop. Weta Digital take on the visual effects for both films, led by the film’s visual effects supervisor, Joe Letteri. Post production will take place at Park Road Post Production in Wellington.
“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” and “The Hobbit: There and Back Again” are productions of New Line Cinema and MGM, with New Line managing production. Warner Bros Pictures is handling worldwide theatrical distribution, with select international territories as well as all international television licensing, being handled by MGM.
“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” will be released on December 14, 2012. The second film, “The Hobbit: There and Back Again,” is slated for release the following year, on December 13, 2013.

Obsessed with Tag Lines

I’m obsessed with tag lines. It’s the third plan of attack in marketing a motion picture. You’ll usually see it, right there on the movie poster. Of course, a creative movie title would be marketing’s first priority. Second comes an image that defines what the movie is about. Now, arguably some might say that the poster image is more important than the title because it’s the most visual aspect of the movie poster. I’m not here to argue that point.

My assignment today is to focus on that third hook. It’s called a “tag line” and it’s the promotional “catch phrase” that if done correctly, will stick in your head like a repetitive commercial jingle. Sometimes it’s only a few choice words, like in the case of American Beauty (1999) which is “… look closer”. It’s simple but it says something meaningful about the film. Lester Burnham needs to “look closer” at his life. Now, you don’t want it be too long, I think if you find common ground somewhere between two words and three sentences, you’ll be ok. In the movie Dazed and Confused (1992) they have a witty tag that captures the drug theme of the movie, “It was the last day of school in 1976, a time they'd never forget... if only they could remember”. It also feeds you year 1976, which tells you when the movie is taking place so you know it’s a period piece. So, just by that tag line, it tells us everything we really need to know about film, it’s about school age kids taking drugs in the 70’s. I’m sold. Here’s another movie that uses a year in it’s tag line, Goodfellas ( 1990 ) “As far back as I can remember, I've always wanted to be a gangster." -- Henry Hill, Brooklyn, N.Y. 1955.

Now, tag lines can be many things but they don’t always have to be statements, they can also be questions. Here’s a great example of a movie tag asking a questions to it’s audience. When Harry Met Sally ( 1989 ) “Can two friends sleep together and still love each other in the morning?” This is the perfect hook because your first reaction after reading the question is to think about the answer or how you would answer it. Then you look up at both Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal on the movie poster, and think to yourself, can THEY? Automatically, it’s a reason to see the movie and find out the answer. Now, some tag questions have answers that are just plain obvious, and "Who you gonna call?" from Ghostbusters (1984) is one of those. There are some questions that people can personally relate to. If you are ever late on a car payment, then you might just relate to Repo Man (1984) when it poses the question, "It's 4 A.M. — do you know where your car is?" Here’s a tag question that doesn’t need an answer from one of my favorite movies, "Stealing, cheating, killing... Who said romance was dead?" True Romance (1993).If you watch the flick, you’ll catch a few more grade A questions from one Dennis Hopper. Ha!

I’ve mentions some comedies and a few dramas but there is no genre in movies that uses tag lines better than that horror industry. You’ll find some of the most outlandish phrases in horror movie tag lines. I’ve whipped up a wicked orgy of tag lines for you enjoy.

Let’s start with number ten on our scary list. A Nightmare on Elm Street ( 1984) brought a new meaning to nightmare and tagged “If Nancy Doesn't Wake Up Screaming She Won't Wake Up At All...” was guaranteed to make a sound sleeper have insomnia. Does anyone know what the tag line is going to be for the remake? Just curious.

Here’s another tag that puts the emphasis on the word, “scream” and rightfully so. The Birds (1963) "...and remember, the next scream you hear may be your own!" makes me want to go out and buy a feline. Cat’s do have 9 lives, you know.

I really like our eighth thriller. The Last House on the Left (1972) "To avoid fainting keep repeating: it's only a movie, it's only a movie" This tag tells you that this movie could actually render you unconscious and make you drop your popcorn, spill your coke, and smash your nose on the floor. That’s intense.

Frankenstein (1931) "A Monster Science Created — But Could Not Destroy!" This is the grand daddy of all monster movies comes in seventh place. It’s incredible that in this short tag, but it really tells you the plot of the movie. It’s got some monster information wrapped up in a nice little package and tagged.

I discovered this horror gem on VHS shortly after we got on first VCR back in the 80’s. Here’s six - Re-Animator (1985) "Herbert West Has A Very Good Head On His Shoulders... And Another One In A Dish On His Desk" It’s such a dark and vivid statement. I read this and I can SEE the head in the dish and on the desk.

Alien (1979) "In space no one can hear you scream."This is the number one tag line on sooooooo many movie lists, and it’s really hard to argue it’s greatness. It’s like, If I put this as my number one, am I just a sheep following the rest. If I don’t put it as number one then I’m purposely not doing it, just to be different. Here’s my take: It’s all in the wording. This is the third time in our top ten list that the word “scream” is mentioned in some form. It’s a powerful word. When you scream, you scream for help or you scream in horror, but when you add the dimension of space and the possibilty that no one will hear your cries, well that’s what just makes this tag line so potent. This is my number five as I think there are a few more horror tag lines that really do the trick.

Our fourth pick is Jaws 2 (1978) “Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water” It’s plays on the original Jaws (1975) tag line which was simple and to the point, “don’t go in the water” and I loved it. Too bad Jaws II the movie was not as good as the tag line. Remember he ate a helicopter? And the kids in the movie were so annoying you wanted the shark to eat them.

The countdown of horror tags get close to our number one spot. We are down to the top three. Poltergeist ( 1982)“They're here”

It’s two simple words but it’s all in the pronunciation. It’s so simple it’s clever, and I hear the little girl’s voice just reading it.

This tag is highly recognizable and I think it has been quoted more than any other tag on our list.

Second tag choice is Suspiria (1977) "The Only Thing More Terrifying Than The Last 12 Minutes Of This Film Are The First 92. " What are you trying to tell me? The last 12 minutes of this movie is boring and sucks. No, I don’t take it as that. This tag spells out so much information, not only does it give you the movie’s run time but it give you the percentage of time that you are going to be scared out of your wits. That’s over an hour and a half of terrification! Is that a word? This tag just might be my personal favorite.

First and finally, every writers alter-ego has typed these words at one time or another. Have you? The Shining (1980) made this phrase terrifying, “all work and no play make jack a dull boy”. I swear… anytime of I have writers block. Ha! You just can’t get better. I love “Here’s Johnny” but I don’t think that was an actual promotional tag line. It’s more of a quote. Hmmm, that gets me thinking. I’ll be back before long with a fan-tabulous list of some of movies most awe inspiring quotes. You just wait and see.

Honorable mentions : Halloween (1977) “The Night HE Came Home” , Dracula (1992) “Love Never Dies” , Psycho (1960) “Check in. Relax. Take a shower.” , The Thing (1982) “Man is the warmest place to hide” , Army of Darkness (1992)"Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas." , Feast ( 2005 ) “They're Hungry. You're Dinner” , Peter Jackson’s King Kong (2005) “The Eight Wonder of the World” , The Lost Boys (1987) "Sleep all day, party all night. It's fun to be a vampire" … RIP our friend, Corey Haim!

I’m a horror junkie and that’s why I picked ten personal favorite horror tag lines, but there are so many to choose and so many other genre’s to explore. I just mentioned the tag for The Lost Boys and it really makes me think of all the incredible work Corey Haim did as a young actor. Licence to Drive (1988) had a tag that tied into the film’s title and the car theme, "Some guys get all the brakes!". Those 80’s teen movies that we all know and love, and watch EVERY single time that they are on television, hit us with some cool and cute tags. Here’s a hidden goodie ( or goodies ) in Just One Of The Guys (1985) "She is about to go where no woman has gone before." Pretty in Pink ( 1986) “He's good. She's good. He's just Duckie” , ah good ol’ Jon Cryer. Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead (1991) "No rules. No curfews. No nagging. No pulse." Well, the name of the movie can’t be topped by it’s tag line, but the tag fits the situation perfectly. Sixteen Candles ( 1984 ) tag“This is Samantha Baker and today is her 16th birthday. The problem is, nobody remembers.” I’m undecided here. Do you think it gives away too much information? Some Kind of Wonderful (1987)"Before they could stand together, they had to stand alone". This tag has a good inspirational message. I love the statement here in The Last Starfighter(1984) too, "He didn't find his dreams...His dreams found him". This one puts it all on the table, Valley Girl (1983)"She's Cool, He's Hot, She's from the Valley, He's not". Our next fast tag comes from Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) “Fast Cars, Fast Girls, Fast Carrots...Fast Carrots?” I think they could have come up with a better tag, but that’s my opinion. I think I could have nailed a better tag line. I think YOU GUYS can come up with a better tag line!!!! That’s an idea. If anyone who reads this wants to suggest a possible better tag line for this movie, or any of the movies listed… be my guest. The Last American Virgin (1982) "See It Or Be It!". Nope, don’t want to be it. The Graduate (1967)"This is Benjamin. He's a little worried about his future." It’s give a hint, maybe this one doesn’t give enough information? Hmmm. Another movie that’s a little worried about the future is Back to the Future (1984) has definitely stood the test of time, outstanding tag “He's the only kid ever to get into trouble before he was born” . I’ll stop while the getting is good.

Ok, a few of those films weren’t 80’s, sue me. Well, I hope you enjoyed my little trip down tag line lane. Next time you see a movie poster, don’t forget to read the tiny writing. That’s all for now from Mike Joy. Entertainment Earth

eBass Entertainment unveils horror-movie homage for upcoming film, "The Eve"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“THE EVE” POSTERS THE TOWN

eBass Entertainment unveils horror-movie homage
series in advance of 2012 film release

NEW YORK CITY — As eBass Entertainment readies to premiere its feature-length horror-thriller film The Eve, the creators are paying tribute to the genre’s most iconic films with a special movie-poster homage. “Just as our film gives a nod to several classic thrillers, we wanted this art series to hint at The Eve’s roots in the horror tradition as well as its categorical twist,” says screenwriter and producer Evan Bass.

Fans of “Friday the 13th,” “Poltergeist,” and “The Evil Dead” will recognize signature artwork from those films’ respective posters, each given a fresh interpretation by a group of talented contributing designers as well as the cast of The Eve. Bass hopes the five homage posters — to be revealed one at a time through the end of the year (followed by the official movie poster for The Eve) — will incite anticipation for the film.

Homage posters released to date include:

• “Friday the 13th,” designed by Taylor Armstrong
• “Poltergeist,” designed by PJ Filippi
• “The Evil Dead,” designed by PJ Filippi, photography by Jeremy Bales

The fourth and fifth concepts and designers have yet to be announced. View the first three posters at TheEveMovie.com, and keep up-to-date on new releases by following The Eve on Facebook (Facebook.com/TheEveMovie).

A throwback to films of the Hitchcock era, The Eve centers on three long-time, 20-something friends whose relationships have begun to unravel, in addition to one of their girlfriends, who head to Martha’s Vineyard for a New Year’s getaway in an effort to reconnect. That endeavor is quickly abandoned, however, when they discover a serial killer is preying on the island’s few off-season inhabitants. In the killer’s crosshairs, the foursome’s underlying tensions escalate into conflict and terror reverberates as they fight to survive the night.

eBass Entertainment plans to release the trailer for The Eve by December 31. The film, directed by Ritchie Steven Filippi and also produced by Angel Acevedo, is tentatively scheduled for debut early 2012.

Michael Madsen Abducted by Aliens?

Monster-Mania.net posted, “VERY sorry to report this but I’ve just been informed by Potent Pictures that Michael Madsen’s manager has cancelled his appearance at MMCON as well as his role in the Potent Pictures films. His manager has been unable to reach him for the past 2 weeks nor has Madsen shown up for any of his scheduled appointments. I personally have spoken to his manager, publicist and lawyer and none of them have been able to reach him. If anything changes I will let everyone know. Sorry for the bad news.”
MonsterMania Convension is coming up this weekend in Cherry Hill, NJ and it looks as if Michael Madsen won’t be there. I personally think Michael Madsen has been abducted by aliens.

Interview with Josh Eppard (Weerd Science)

Josh Eppard talks music and horror in this Exclusive Horrornews.net Interview w/ Mike Joy.
Approx. 60 minutes long

Kingston, NY – After his eight-year daily battle with opiates, Josh Eppard has kicked his addiction and will be releasing his long awaited second full-length album SICK KIDS under his solo moniker WEERD SCIENCE on May 17, 2011. He will be telling his story throughout Spring on The British Invasion Tour and all Summer long on Vans Warped Tour (tour dates below). MC Lars will be releasing this collection of rhymes, raps, and beats on his independent label Horris Records, nearly six years after Weerd Science’s debut album Friends and Nervous Breakdowns. Sick Kids was co-produced by Eppard and Dave Parker (ex-Coheed and Cambria), tracked at Applehead Studios in Woodstock, NY and Dark World Studios in Kingston, NY, and mixed by Chris Bittner (Coheed and Cambria, Bad Brains).

Sick Kids is a journey in the fragile mind of a drug addict – feelings of hurt, guilt, sadness, happiness, and twisted thoughts. During the making of Sick Kids, Eppard was back and forth with drugs - more back than forth. He explained, “Part of the guilt that haunted me daily was to look the people who were so excited to be making another Weerd Science record in the eyes and lie. I would convince them that I was sober and ready to work, but the truth is that I was shooting dope in the bathroom pretty much the entire session.” In no way does Sick Kids follow a specific theme, but the songs that have nothing to do with drugs were his way of running from the truth. Deep down inside, this album was his cry for help. Drugs didn’t necessarily enhance his creative mind, so he kept Sick Kids as-is. “It would’ve been vastly different if I was sober,” he continues. “It would also be an injustice to my struggle with addiction to gloss my performances.” Realizing when he was sober that the more good people he knew became distant during his addiction. “You open your eyes one day and ask yourself, 'Why am I in a car with two homeless guys and a hooker at 4am?' The people in your life who were honest and decent are gone,” he reflects. After two years of being clean, he no longer gets the urge like he used to, back when he had dreams of getting high and would have to wake up in the middle of the night to shake it off. “It’s such a great feeling to be beyond this… I know what it’s like to not want to live and literally hold a knife to your wrist and pray to God that this time you’ll have the courage to slice.”

As a drummer, Eppard has seen the ups and downs of the music industry first hand, which was even the topic of his Weerd Science debut Friends and Nervous Breakdowns (Equal Vision). He began his career drumming in the band 3 (Universal) in 1992 prior to joining Coheed and Cambria (Columbia) in 2001. After parting ways with the band in 2006 and taking time to clean up, Eppard’s love of drumming drew him back to his current band Terrible Things (Universal Motown). Opting to release his debut on an independent label, Eppard confides, “In my opinion, a label in this day and age can’t offer me anything as an artist. Labels fail more than they succeed. Why should I sign a deal where they have their hands in my touring revenue, merch, and my everything when all they can offer me is a fancy building and some free lunch every few months?”

Eppard wanted his fans to be directly involved with this album, so he created a KickStarter campaign, and within five days, he reached his goal of $4,000 dollars. Currently, he's surpassed his goal by nearly $2,000 and there is still seven days left. “Weerd Science can be as big as the world wants it to be,” he surmises. “I’m tired of boring music and I’m not following a system designed to limit what’s available to us as consumers.”

“Shooting For The Wrestling Fan’s Attention”

“Shooting For The Wrestling Fan’s Attention”
by Michael Parisi
In the early days of professional wrestling there was always a shroud of mystery blocking fans from the truth behind the industry. Wrestlers kept their craft as a closely guarded secret and if you dared to call wrestling fake, you just might end up like John Stossel. In the 1980’s that all changed when Vince McMahon Jr. decided to lift that shroud and reveal to the world that wrestling was predetermined. It was the beginning of athletes becoming superstars and wrestling becoming sports entertainment. In recent years, most fans will agree that wrestling has become a bit stale and very predictable. I’m one old school wrestling fan who longs for the days of watching Bob Backlund, Don Muraco, Ric Flair, and Dusty Rhodes. Pro Wrestling used to be filled with adventure and suspense, it had riveting storylines. Does anyone remember when Andy Kaufman through a mug of water in The King, Jerry Lawler’s face on Late Nite with David Letterman? Andy Kaufman was a genius at not only working the crowd but also working the boys. Andy Kaufman became a master of staying in character both on and off camera. He took his love for professional wrestling to great extremes, and he was so good at it that he had his closest friends concerned for his well being.
Since the days of Andy Kaufman’s antics there has only been a few wrestlers to really pull off a “worked shoot” superbly. Brian Pillman lived his “loose cannon” character and had an entire dressing room full of wrestlers buying what he was selling. Pillman worked them all, from WCW to ECW, and finally over to the WWF. There seems to be a “worked shoot” trend subtlety sweeping the wrestling community. CM Punk is the most notable example as he has single handedly set the WWE on fire again. There hasn’t been this type of water cooler talk since the days of Stone Cold Steve Austin. Now, as mainstream as the CM Punk contract controversy was, there are a few interesting heated situations taking place under the radar in the independent scene. Apparently there has been some trash talk between Ricky Morton and Kevin Nash recently, and in a few short months those two individuals will meet on opposite sides of the squared circle. There are some people talking that this meeting could turn into an all out shoot. In the world of wrestling, you are learned to question everything. While I’m sure the heat is real between them, there is also the theatrics of this business at hand and to coin a term from Eric Bischoff, “controversy creates cash”! This is true even at the independent level.
There’s another interesting situation that’s been brewing on the world wide web. You know the name of “The Universal Heartthrob” Austin Idol as he’s known as one of the best promo men of all time. Here’s a name that you’ve never heard of before, Michael Joy. He’s a horror journalist who works for the website, Horrornews.net. Michael Joy made an outrageous claim in a recent interview with Austin Idol, saying that Idol could have saved the life of fellow wrestler and plane crash victim, Bobby Shane. Austin Idol snapped, calling the claim baseless and hung up on Michael Joy. I’ve read a lot of comments that it’s a simple case of Michael Joy going into business for himself, but I believe there’s more going on here than meets the eye. Here’s a few things that you need to take into consideration. The day after the interview, Austin Idol posted it on his own website. If I were Austin Idol, I think the best way to deal with this jerk would be to simply ignore him and not give him the satisfaction of getting this so-called interview published. It didn’t stop there, as Michael Joy responded via video blog to Austin Idol and Austin Idol again retaliated on his own website, Austin Idol Live! I’m curious to see who makes the next move here and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this entire fantasy wasn’t concocted by Austin Idol himself. Think about it.

Twiggy Ramierez vs Damien Wayne

For long time New Jersey indy fans, the name Twiggy Ramirez is a name know all to well.. Starting off first as a tag team wrestler Twiggy then made a name for him self in the Junior Heavyweight Ranks in the NWA.. He even was the #1 contender for the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship.. Back then Twiggy was reckless, impulsive & a pleasure to see in the squared circle... Since then Mr Ramirez has matured not only as an adult but as a wrestler.. He takes a few less risks but he makes up for it with veteran guile & a sharp mind that was forged in the fired of many tough battles in pro wrestling.. No Longer a Junior Heavyweight Twiggy mixes his superb wrestling skill with a masochistic ability to deliver pain & violence when needed.. He recently used his skill set to win many regional championship though out the state of New Jersey & has impressed the management of the Outlaws of Wrestling promotion.. They booked him to appear on their return show on August 27th & put him against the one wrestler in the company who may be his equal in both talent & proficiency for violence...
That wrestler is NWA DAWG Champion Damien Wayne.. Damien may very well be the offspring of Satan him self.. He is one of the most talented wrestlers to ever grace the squared circle & is looking to not only defend his coveted NWA DAWG Championship but to further his quest for pro wrestling dominance.. Imagine a wrestler who is part "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Part Jeff Hardy & Part Tully Blanchard & you have the gladiator know as Damien Wayne...He hopes to use Twiggy's hard earned reputation to future his own but for those who know Twiggy that may be easier said then done...
This match will be one for the ages & if you call your self a TRUE wrestling fan then there is no excuse to miss it.. So make sure you come to theJackson Moose Lodge located at 1240 E.
