Counter Clockwise - Trailer from artsploitation on Vimeo .  By inventively merging mind-bending science fiction with dark comedy, COUNTER CLOCKWISE delivers a hugely entertaining thriller about a befuddled time travelling scientist caught up in a murder mystery. Bearded scientist Ethan Walker is obsessively working on inventing a tele-transportation device. Instead he stumbles into inventing a time machine and recklessly zaps himself six months into the future. Vampyres Poster by Artsploitation Vampyres   In 1974, an English horror film titled VAMPYRES, written and directed by José Ramón Larraz Gil , premiered to an unsuspecting world. Soon, it became a cult horror sensation because of its sensuality, its gruesomeness and its twisted atmosphere. This new version keeps those graphic elements and the twisted atmosphere, but includes more action, more horror and more gore in telling the story of two vamps that “live” in a dark manor where they bring men with the promise of sex orgies that ultimately become blood orgies.  http://www.artsploitationfilms.com/film/vampyres/

Wicked Channel Review: The Devil Lives Here

Image
The Devil Lives Here Review - Artsploitation Films have thrown me a curve ball with this film. When you watch the trailer, it seems like a basic and cut and dry horror film. When you start to watch this film, common sense goes right out the window within seconds. The plot from what I can remember involves Apolo. Apolo has invited his buddies, Ale, Jorge and Magu to visit a farmhouse owned by his family. He never tells them, what his motive for this visit is. It seems that he wants to free a baby’s spirit from this curse. It seems that on this day, every 9 months, that a being called Bee Baron comes to claim a baby unless descendants of the family of the child can stop him. As you can assume, the visitors are not exactly down with this and all hell breaks loose. This film was confusing but it was fun. It has this “ Candyman” like vibe towards it. I feel this film would have been smarter to add more depth to the history of the story, unless this film is like Muck, and th...

Search My Trash Interview w/ George Moise / Counter-Clockwise

Image
An Interview with George Moïse, Director & Co-Writer of Counter Clockwise Counter-Clockwise on Sale at Artsploitation Films Your new film Counter Clockwise - in a few words, what is it about?   Here’s the logline I’ve said a million people: A scientist accidentally invents time travel and is zapped 6 months in the future. But it’s a dark, upside-down world where people are trying to kill him and he’s framed for the deaths of his wife and sister. He must go back in time to uncover the mystery and rewrite history. What were your inspirations when writing Counter Clockwise , and are you at all a fan of time travel stories in whatever medium - and did you do any kind of research on the subject? Well my brother Walt (co-story, producer, editor) came up with the idea. He’s a huge sci-fi fan and had read a Philip K. Dick short story that was sort of like this. I actually don’t know wh...

Artsploitation's Fever is now available on VOD platforms

Image
A Gallic Take on the Leopold and Loeb Scandal, FEVER  Out on VOD Platforms b The New York Times described the French psychological thriller Fever as “Intriguing and intelligent…chilling” when it was released in cinemas last year. The story revolves around two teen boys who kill a stranger for the thrill of it and seemingly get away with the crime. But take note, this film is on the far "art" side of "artsploitation" - there is no blood shed (the murder happens 5 minute before the start of the film) and no violence. Rather the film is brilliant in its examination of these two boys and how a "perfect murder" affects them differently. Loosely adapted on the 1920s Leopold and Loeb murder scandal that has been filmed several different times ( Compulsion, Rope, Swoon ) , the film now comes out on leading VOD Platforms today.  Available on the following sites: Amazon Vudu YouTube Vimeo Microsoft XBox PlayStation Dish Network   ...

The Devil Lives Here review from Search My Trash

Image
via GIPHY The Devil Lives Here Apolo (Pedro Carvalho) has invited his best friends Jorge (Diego Goullart), Ale (Mariana Cortines) and Magu (Clara Verdier) to his family's farmhouse deep in the country, but doesn't tell them that he plans a séance to free the spirit of a baby from its curse - which in itself sounds like a noble thing, but there's more to that story than meets the eye, as on this very day every nine months, a beeing called the Bee Baron (Ivo Müller) comes to claim the baby unless descendants from the baby's family prevent him - descendants like Tiao (Pedro Caetano) and Luciano (Felipe Frazao), who are so shocked about what Apolo was planning to do that they resort to violence in an effort to set a few wrongs right - but violence of course isn't the answer when dealing with the supernatural, especially since the Bee Baron is already quickly approaching, and Ale seems to be possessed by some spirit or other to turn the tide - but in which way and w...

Coffee and Time Travel - Counter-Clockwise Review

Image
Coffee, Coffee, and More Coffee Review of Counter-Clockwise I was glad to see that in the "Making of . . ." supplement for Counter Clockwise , writer-director George Moise acknowledged, among other films, Nacho Vigalongo's Time Crimes from 2007. The two films have somewhat similar premises with a man going into the future, and pursuing himself in the attempt to prevent a future crime. The biggest difference is that Vigalongo kept everything compact, with the action taking place within a very specific space, with a small number of characters. Moise takes his main character and his clones through the outskirts of Los Angeles, with a larger number of characters encompassing a much larger space. While films with characters caught in time loops, finding themselves repeating situations, have been around since at least the 1930s, Moise uses a visual queue from what may be the first film to show time traveling characters within the same space. That f...

"Der Bunker (which means The Bunker here in America) is a movie unlike just about anything Ive ever seen." - ZOMBIES DON'T RUN

Image
ZOMBIES DON'T RUN review of DER BUNKER  Der Bunker (2015) (Blu-ray Review) Directed By: Nikias Chryssos Starring: Pit Bukowski, Daniel Fripan, Oona von Maydell Rated: UR/Region A/2:35/1080p/Number of Discs 1 Available from Artsploitation Films  A young student seeks quiet and solitude to focus on an important work but ends up as the teacher of a peculiar boy who is home-schooled by his parents in an isolated bunker mansion. THE BUNKER is a dark, twisted, and funny tale about childhood, growing up and education.  Der Bunker (which means The Bunker here in America) is a movie unlike just about anything I’ve ever seen. This is the story of a very odd couple with a very odd “child” living in a bunker of a home when they rent out the spare room to a guy (the student) who ends up getting basically everything but the quiet he was looking for. What makes it so odd is that it is a very dry comedy in a lot of ways and that seems to be the base of the mo...
